Pierced Ears

This last weekend Camryn got her ears pierced! I know I've already heard...she is either too old or too young to get her ears pierced...and I win worst mother of the year award, but I have to say it really went better then I even thought it would. I tried when she was much younger, but the incompetent lady working at the Claire's in Vegas that we went to (honestly what was I thinking!) couldn't even get the dots straight with the marker, and after her fifth time trying just with the marker I decided that she was not touching my baby with anything more permanent and we left. So, after that experience it took a couple years, and a new city, to trust anyone with a piercing gun again. Lately Camryn has been really into jewelry, purses, nail polish, and make-up. She puts on every piece of jewelry she owns and calls herself a princess. She also watches me getting ready and loves when I wear jewelry. She has been saying that she wants earrings like mommy. I just don't think she realized what that really meant, but I told her she could and the next time we were at the mall the opportunity presented itself.
Cam was so excited! She was told to sit in the chair and hold the bear. It took a while for the paperwork and such so Cami ended up getting a bit bored.
Then it came...not exactly what she expected!
This literally lasted for maybe 15 seconds. Then she got a lollipop and a mirror to see her new earrings and she was all smiles!
"Look I have earrings now!"

It's a BOY!!!!!

I was once again wrong about the sex of the baby. I did the same thing with Camryn. I was so sure this baby was a girl...yet the ultra sound begs to differ. I can't say that I was disappointed though (and Scott definitely wasn't). Who wouldn't want one of each we are thrilled!! The baby looks very healthy, but I was told I have a condition called Placenta Previa...I wont go into details but it can definitely complicate this pregnancy for me. I am now on semi-bed rest, yuck! I just can't seem to ever have a normal, stress free pregnancy. I am just glad that the baby is healthy... and a BOY!

Favorite Shirt

Camryn has never really cared about what she wears. I just usually pick something out for her and she puts it on...that was until she was given this Disney shirt from Papa and Grandma Jackie. As soon as we got home from our trip and she opened it she had to put it on immediately! I thought that was so cute so I helped her change into her new shirt. It is now 3 days later and she has worn it 2 out of the 3 days...and that is only because I insisted we wash it in between. She is too funny. It is amazing to me how fast she is growing up...and forming her own opinions. Thanks for the gifts Papa and Grandma Jackie!

Our trip to the beach and the zoo

Last week Camryn and I spent five days at Carpinteria Beach with my best friend and her awesome family and we then went to the zoo with Grandma Lloyd and Steve. Camryn had a blast and I must say it was some much needed relaxation for me. The only thing that could have made it better is if Scott could have been there. Unfortunately he had to work...something about paying the bills or something dumb like that. Well, there's always next year!

"Lawn" Overdue

This is almost too embarrassing to admit but we moved here in January and just a few days ago we finally were able to cut the grass. I know that is a long time but really our front yard is all desert landscaping... so no grass there, and our back yard just has this very small patch of grass. All of which I had to nurse back to life when we moved in. Maybe I did too good of a job reviving the grass because it then started to grow out of control...and we didn't own a lawn mower. So last weekend my sweet husband bought a lawn mower on one of his few days off and cut the grass...5 times. Yeah, that's right it took 5 times going over our little patch of grass, and 4 trash bags of lawn clippings to get the job done. When he finally got all of the grass cut our lawn was all yellow and dead looking underneath. Oh well, I guess we start over with reviving the grass again, only this time we will keep it cut...you win some you lose some.

Our Fourth of July Festivities

Summer has been so busy and hectic that I have fallen behind on my blogging. Hopefully I will get back into the swing of things again...but no promises.
For the Fourth of July we went to California to see Scott's family. His dad just bought a new boat and invited us to go out on it and watch the Queen Mary fireworks. It was a lot of fun but one thing I must admit is pregnancy and a rocking boat on the ocean do not mix. I think I will enjoy it even more next year for that reason.

Happy Birthday Dallin!

Now that I live so close to Shelby I get to go to all of the birthday parties! Dallin turned 6 this week and it was fun to see him and his friends splashing around at the party. Man I wish they had things like giant inflatable water slides when I was six!

A healthy baby grape

I had my first ultrasound for #2 today and everything looks great! I am always so nervous until the first ultrasound when I can actually see the little heart beat. It was really amazing. The baby is about one inch long, which is just about right for nine weeks. The books all say, about the size of a large grape...like we all don't know how long an inch is until it is said in reference to a food item...."an inch I don't understand...Oh, now I get it, it's a grape..." whatever, but this is seriously done through at least the entire first trimester. Week 5- which is when most people find out they are pregnant they tell you, "it's about the size of a grain of rice." Then you move on to the bean, the blueberry, the kidney bean(which must be bigger then the "bean" referenced in week 6), and now in week 9 we are the proud parents of a grape. Anyways, it was very fun to see our little grape on the big screen. Scott was able to come to the appointment also and he swears he can already tell that it is a boy. The Doctor and I assured him that that was an arm or leg and we will not be able to determine gender for a couple more months, but Scott was still not convinced. :)

Dr. Papa

While we were visiting Scott's family in California Scott's dad, who Camryn calls Papa, cleaned all of our teeth. I wasn't sure how Camryn would do for her first real dental check-up and cleaning because at her pediatrician appointments she is so good for everything except when they want to look in her mouth. At that point she usually presses her lips together and locks her jaw shut, yet still manages to cry until they stop. However her cleaning went surprisingly well. Camryn loves her Papa and had no problem opening wide.
I was assisting, just like the good old days:) and Camryn had her teeth polished and no cavities where reported!

Camryn and Corey

For Memorial Day we went to California to visit some of Scott's family. Camryn got to see her cousin Corey. Cami and Corey have always been very close. They are just a little over three months apart in age and they spent much of their first two years of life playing together. It was so fun to see them together again!

Golf Carts

Now, if you are not from Arizona then you, like me when I first moved here, will find this a bit absurd but people drive golf carts around here. I don't mean just on the golf courses, of which there an abundance, or even to and from golf games...no, no, no, they drive them around on regular streets like to the grocery store, pharmacy, or doctor's appointment (there are a lot of old people here also). They drive them like a regular car. I thought this was the strangest concept when I first moved here. I even remember taking a picture of one parked next to me at McDonald's. Now I guess I've just gotten used to it so I didn't even realize that one was next to us today until Camryn started laughing in the back seat. I looked at her and she pointed out the window at a golf cart similar to the one above and said, "what is that?" I answered it's a golf cart. She then laughed again and said, "That is a RIDICULOUS car!" There is just something about hearing the word "ridiculous" from a two year old's mouth that I found funnier then even a golf cart. :o)

Happy Birthday Scott!

Today is Scott's 26th birthday! I really wanted to find a baby picture to put on but this is the youngest picture of him that we have...and I thought it was just the cutest thing ever...him in his little league uniform. And then there's him now...that's my goofy guy, never serious. Look how he has grown...physically that is...deep down he will always be a kid. We love you Scotty! Happy Birthday!!!!!
PS My apologies about the nude picture. :o)

Mistaken Identity

Okay so I occasionally watch Dr. Phil while Cami takes her nap, but I'm not sure if she has ever really seen me watch it. So today she woke up during the last few minutes of Dr. Phil... you know the end part where the camera comes in close and he does his end "monologue" thing.... Cam was looking t the TV and then urned around with a big smile and said, "Look mom, it's Thomas Monson!" I laughed til I thought I'd wet myself! By the way not sure why she refuses to say the middle initial too but to her it is just Thomas Monson. So what do you think...slight resemblance maybe? I will never look at Dr. Phil again with out laughing.

Rita?

Sometimes I ask myself "Where on earth did I get her?" Camryn has a way of coming up with the strangest ideas. So lately she has really gotten into pretend play. She plays dress-up, doctor, house, and dolls. She started this about a month ago when she started to name her toys. Most of them are name of friends, family, or TV shows...that is all except for Rita. Rita is her baby doll. That's right I said Rita. Now at first I thought maybe I heard her wrong..."Leah, honey?" "No, Mom she's Rita." It's just not a typical baby name like sally, or molly...It's more like the name of a lovely meter maid...or maybe even a lunch lady in elementary school...but a baby? (My apologies to any of you out there who love the name Rita.) So this morning Camryn said "Mom, Rita is poopy." Looking very concerned. So I said "well, Cam you are Rita's mommy, maybe you should change her. Camryn got very excited and ran to get the diapers and wipes. I'm thinking maybe if she starts changing Rita she will want to finally be a big girl and stop wearing diapers herself! Here's hoping!!:o)

Wake Boarding!

Scott went with Lance and their friend Dustin on Dustin's boat to do some wake boarding. They took the boys and called it a "Man Trip"...too funny. Anyway Scott had never been wake boarding before but he was impressively able to get up after only one try! Looks like they had a blast. Next time I say the girls go too:o)

Yard Sale!

Shelby and I went yard saling this morning while the guys were out at the lake and I made a haul. There were so many yard sales we literally just circled the neighborhood and saw over 30 yard sales. I found some outdoor toys for Cami...and thanks to Shelby's bartering skills I got the water table and sandbox for $7.50 each and the playhouse was FREE!! Camryn has been outside all day.

Gray's is back!

"Don't you judge me!" Okay it is no secret that Gray's Anatomy is one of my guilty pleasures and I was so excited to have it come back. When I first moved to AZ I was telling Shelby about it and shockingly enough she had never seen it so I sat her down and started her with "Season 1 Disc 1" well it didn't take long before she was recruiting new Gray's fans too. Last night we all got together to see the first episode since the writers strike. We had sparkling cyder, cheesecake, lots of snacks, and just the girls. Afterword we sat in the hot tub...now that's my idea of a girls night. Thanks for hosting Shannon it was a blast!

Cami's first braids

YEAH!!! Okay this is along time in the making (2years, 7mos. and 18days to be exact) but Camryn's hair is long enough for teen tiny braids! But just barely:)

Happy Birthday Amy!

Today Shelby and I went to the East Valley to see our friend Amy. It was her birthday while I was on one of my many trips so we planned to go spend a day with her when I returned. The plan was to leave around 8 am and go to her house in Gilbert. Shelby was going to do her hair and then we were going to go shopping and eat at Cafe Rio...yummmmo! I think while planning this day-o-fun we all somehow forgot that between the three of us we have six and a half darling sweet children (Amy is pregnant not Shelby or me). Needless to say the drive was horrendous, hair was done with kids crying and crackers flying, Cafe Rio turned into the toddler Kentucky Derby(I think Ryder won) and shopping turned into watching the kids play at the mall playground. :) Well that is the life of a mom! I think over all the chaos we still had fun. Happy Birthday Amy. We love You!

Well when we got home Camryn wanted popcorn so I told her if she ate all her dinner she could have some. Then I got busy on the computer and I noticed that it was awfully quiet so I went to check on Cami. This is what I found. It has been a long day. Guess she didn't want popcorn after all!:)

Traveling!

I Know it has been so long since my last post. I feel like I have done nothing but packed, unpacked, and struggle to get all of the laundry done in between trips. It was so fun...but I have to say I am glad to be back home and getting Camryn back on a regular schedule. We first went to Washington to see my parents. Scott couldn't come because of work :( But Shelby, Lance and the boys came up for a week! I have to admit while we were traveling there we looked like we came straight out of Colorado City. Lance, Shelby and me with 4 kids under the age of 5....it was too funny.
The kids had so much fun at Grandma and Grandpa Burnham's! The Kis frosted cookies made cupcakes and colored Easter eggs with Grandma.
It snowed just about every day that we were there. I was freezing...but Camryn loved it. This is one of the first times she's seen snow, and the only time she remembers seeing it.

After leaving Washington I had six days to unpack, do laundry, and pack again for Utah. Scott had to go to take a test to get a Utah state paramedic licence which went very well. We decided to take a couple extra days to see friends and family. However unlike traveling to Washington this time we drove...big mistake.

Sorry I don't have pictures of everyone but we had so much fun visiting everyone. Camryn is missing all her cousins.

I know it's gross...but funny

The other day Camryn was sitting in the living room and when I walked by I noticed she was once again picking her nose. This always makes me sick to see. She has really been doing this a lot lately, which is a normal "discovery" phase I am told. I have tried explaining how yucky it is, bought her her own tissues, but she is very stubborn and I am now just telling her to flat out stop picking her nose. So as soon as I saw she was picking her nose I said, "Camryn, stop picking your nose!" to which she replied, "oh yeah, I pick my nose in my room", and she ran off to her room. I hope you will all forgive me that there is no picture to go with this entry. Nose picking is not exactly a Kodak moment:)

Camryn gets dressed

Carmryn came in to the room and said, "Taadaa, Cami got dressed!" I didn't have the heart to tell her that her jean skirt overalls were not only backwards...but upside down too. And to top it all off she was wearing her shiny black dress shoes. I love it!

Cami's new favorite food

Tonight for dinner I told Camryn that if she ate all her dinner, which consisted of roasted chicken, asparagus, and oranges that she could have dessert. She really liked the dinner and promptly ate everything on her plate. When she was finished I said, "Do you want your dessert now?" She looked at me and said, "asparagus dessert mom?" Thinking maybe she was confused I gave her one of the left over spears from the pot on the stove. I really thought she would give it back but she just said, "Oh thanks" and took a big bite off the top. She now likes to carry them around the house like a carrot stick. Too funny. I told her she is definitely her Grandpa Burnham's girl. (Dad liked them so much that growing up I used to have asparagus almost every night when it was in season.)

Papa and Grandma Jackie came to visit

This weekend Papa and Grandma Jackie came to visit us and as usual Camryn was completely spoiled all weekend long. I guess thats what grandparents are for though right? While Scott and his dad went golfing Jackie, Cami and I decided to have a girls day out so we went to the Scottsdale Mall. Camryn got to go to Build-A-Bear for the first time and she loved it. When the lady there asked her what her bear's name was Camryn answered without hesitation, "her name is Sis" Sis has not left her side since.

We also went to a little park not to far away and Scott's dad took some family pictures for us.
